Why always us ?!

Why always us?!

The feminine gender is considered to be the most respectful gender in India, a nation known for its cultural heritage and values. Seeing the citizens of this nation exploit the female’s respect and leave her to die, makes me want to rub my nose in shame.
A girl, a sister, a mother, a wife, a grandmother, we are taught to play all these roles with full harmony and take care of our family. We are the builders of the family. Before, we were kept aloof from the outside world, but today, we are the nation builders. We have successfully gained our rights and become the most vital part of our country. We say that we stand face-to-face with men, but is this true?  Are we safe? Can we go out alone after the sun has set? Why?

Even in today’s contemporary world, we are not safe. Along with the modernization of society, more Indian women are being educated and are going out to work. They are breaking out of the subservient mold that society had given to them and are more independent. While this means they are more likely to be sexually abused. What is going wrong in our society and why don’t we support rape victims?
In my opinion, the idea of male chauvinism was passed on from our myths. Mahabharata – the story of the Pandava’s  , has itself shown the practice of harassing a women in front of the whole ‘sabha’ ( assembly ) – ‘Cheer haran of Draupadi’ .

"Rape is the only crime in which the victim becomes the accused."
Once during a social lecture on contemporary women, our lady social teacher said “In the Delhi gang rape case, it was the girl’s fault. She shouldn’t have got in the bus, when she knew there was no other girl”. Even the molder of a child’s mind- the teacher, speaks against the girl and sets a wrong concept in the mind of a child. Then how can we expect the next generation to fight for right.
Recently, former chief minister of U.P- Mulayam Singh Yadhav spoke in a public meeting Boys make mistake. They shouldn’t be hanged “. Mamata Banerjee once said “Boys become naughty sometimes”. Seeing our politician’s defend rapists sets a very wrong impression on the youth.

It is our duty now, to protect the women and fight with them for justice. Let us take an oath to make this a safer country for women. :)

  1. As much as i would like to ignore it, it keeps stabbing me at my face. This is a very serious issue undeed and until women are not properly represented in our government, the man's hand will rule :/ And I do feel shamed to be part fo the same sex that destroys lives of normal girls with normal hopes and dreams. More Women in the parliament can help this a lot :) And all the brave women out there have my sympathies and support

    Nice Writing btw ;)

    1. i totally agree with you. But, rather than increasing the female ratio in the parliament , we must start from the scratch ,i.e, increase awareness amongst the people about how important it is to conserve a female's right and respect. We must hold public talks on what can be done and definitely remove people like Mamata and Mulayam and teachers like 'my social teacher' from their posts and snatch away their powers.

      Thankyou :D !
