The selfless old man.

"Not a single paise more than 30 rupees."

"Fine. Get inside." Said the autorikshaw driver clearly irritated. Then he started mumbling "I am not like the other rickshaw drivers. I don't give a damn about the money. You don't have any idea of how much I donate. I donate 10 of every 100 rupees earned. I don't drive to earn. I do it for humanity....." He kept muttering for another couple of mintues. Finally he shut, realizing that nobody was bothered about his chatter.

It was very delighting to know that he drives not for money but for a social cause. But, I hate how he started bragging about his good deeds. I believe if you really want to do something for humanity, you shouldn't boast about it. But then again, on the other side, thinking of what he must be going through, I understand his irritation and muttering. I mean to tackle with the heat, the traffic and work hard all day long to take back only a handful amount home, so that your wife doesn't throw you out is sad enough. Plus when the passengers start bargaining it is just unbearable. I can't even think of being in his place.
He donates. He is not even a middle class guy. And yet he donates, thinking of himself in a better condition than the people below him. He donates. This is all I care about. We, being the upper or middle class of society don't donate because we are selfish and misers. I remember a senior of mine who, in front of the whole school, in the assembly said " I believe donations are stupid. The concept is not acceptable." When the principal asked him why he replied "why should we donate our hard earned money to others. Can't they earn there own living." This mindset of the people is just so thoughtless and depressing. It is sad to see that we only tend to think about ourselves.
That man made me realise , it is not money that is required for donation, it is a big heart, like that old mans.
